Over View of the Human Body

How is the body Arranged—from the smallest item to the biggest item?

Answer Cell Tissue Basic unit of life A group of cells working together to do the same job

3. Organ A group of Tissues working together to do the same job 4. Organ System A group of organs working together to do the same job

Does the human body have different types of tissues?

Tissues Epithelial Nervous Covers and protects internal organs Sends electrical messages to and from the brain

Muscle Connective Have cells that create movements Joins, supports, protects, cushions, and connects organs

We have 11 Human body Systems Lets name all of them

Muscular -Main Job is movement -3 types—cardiac, smooth, skeletal -Have over 650 muscles

2. Skeleton -Main job is for support -Have a variety of shapes—long/short/rectangle/ irregular/curved -At your age have 206 bones

3. Integumentary -Main job is protection and touch -Contains skin, hair, nails, and sweat glands -You have about 2 million sweat glands in your body

4. Digestive -Job is break down food you eat into a useable form for energy -Contains mouth, stomach, intestines, etc. -Your small intestine is about 21 ft.

5. Circulatory Job= transport material throughout the body -Major players =blood, heart, and blood vessels -on Average the human heart beats 3 BILLION times in your life.

6. Respiratory Job- is to take Oxygen to all your cells and remove Carbon Dioxide. Organs= Mouth, Nose, Lungs, etc. -Your right lung is slightly bigger than your left

7. Nervous Job- is to send electrical impulses throughout your body Organs- Brain, Spinal Cord, Nerves, etc. -The right side of your brain controls the left side of your body so the left side of the brain controls the right side of your body

8. Lymphatic -Also called the Immune system -Job is to keep you healthy by killing bacteria, viruses, tumors, cancers, etc. -Organs= spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow -Eating chicken noodle soup helps this system fight of germs.

9. Endocrine Job- is to send chemical messages throughout your body through the use of hormones. Organs= pancreas, thymus gland, adrenal gland -Behavior and characteristic of a person is largely influenced by this system.

10. Urinary Job- get rid of liquid waste from your body Organs= kidneys and bladder -Your right kidney is slightly higher than your left in your body.

11. Reproductive Job= is produce an offspring
