TV COMMERCIAL & MUSIC VIDEO EVALUATION Members: Maria Jesusa Baldonado Analy A. Cantos Lamaocuo

1.Who created this message? Coca Cola Company - it was created to make money - it gives you that “feel good” feeling - it makes you feel the life beyond reality for a while

2. Creative techniques used It uses the basics of persuasion: a. humorhumor b. funfun c. cartooncartoon It uses a simple story that viewer could easily remember & interpret It uses a handsome male model enough to catch viewers attention The company uses the human’s emotion to catch viewers attention. The commercial is not creative at all

funny characters and crazy images you will see a happy atmosphere; characters are doing fun things; having a good time as it go along with a lively music background. through 3D animation; it made the commercial more attractive

2. How different people might understand this message Consumer For the young adults, this is a Coca Cola advertisement but for children they may understand this as some sort of cartoon because the process of making the bottle of coke has involved varied cartoon characters with much exaggerated faces and actions.

Businesswoman “The coke side of life” This phrase may mean differently to different audiences but personally what I understand of what the ad may convey is that when you drink and taste coke you’ll be able to experience the other side of life – you will feel satisfied and happy. It has universal appeal and no language boundary Can be shown to anyone It may be interpreted in different ways but it all ends up with the product – Coke. You’ll really remember the commercial and you will even tell it to others.

Teacher The commercial brings out the child in a person watching/seeing it. Being an innocent child, despite of the bold truth on the bad effect of its content in our body, you would still be tempted to drink it. The use of the animated cartoons is also very successful in getting the attention of the children. As we all know, in most houses, children have a say in every big or small purchase made.

4. Values, lifestyle and points of view represented in, or omitted a. It embedded no specific value It just want to: inform persuade entertain

they have a product – Coke Convincing the consumers to try their product and be satisfied. Through the use of various creative components

b. It emphasizes the value of getting satisfied with something. It also shows a Filipino value called “bayanihan”, cooperation and helpfulness. In the commercial, it took different process that went through several hands helping together to be able to deliver the coke to the consumer.

5.Why is this message being sent? For profit. In conclusion, this commercial has all creative components integrated beautifully. It made Coca cola more popular and a household name, therefore no need to revise or change its content because it is complete in itself to reach and convince the market.

Music Video: Heal the World 1.By Michael Jackson 2.Its message is universal and timely. It touches the emotion of almost all ages. The melody and the lyrics are beautifully combined.

The lyrics are very easy to understand The video used innocent children to touch the hearts of those people who are pro war. It uses metaphor that children are like flowers and they are the future of our nation and world- children of all color.

3.The meaning of the song is very obvious, to stop the war and create peace. Some people may think that this song send the message of racism because in the video, children of different nationalities were used and vice versa.

4.The music video calls us to value peace and harmony; not war and conflict. It embedded the value of love for others and preserving this world we live in. The song is complete in entirety, no need to revise or omit any wordings.

5.The message is being sent to convince us to create peace and love for the people of all nations. We are being called to stop war and avoid conflict. Because it is only when we show love and peace that we can truly heal the world and make it a better place for everyone.

Thank you!
