Car emissions kill 30,000 people each year in the United States. More than half the people in the United States drive vehicles that fail to meet the federal standards. Motor vehicles account for 72% of the nitrogen oxides and 52% of reactive hydrocarbons – the principle source of smog. All of this hurts our ozone and causes global warming. It hurts animals too, and we share this planet with them. It’s also not fair to future generations who will be faced with poverty, pollution and a worse quality of life.
