Knowledge Sharing as a new Learning Paradigm New learning environments are comprised of both consuming and producing. Social technologies allow us to share in ways that were previously impossible. People learn by watching, asking, talking – unstructured, informal learning is natural.

Connect with others doing similar work Share strategies, successes, challenges, resources Meet potential partners Keep up on news related to AmeriCorps Benefits of Participation

Instant feedback. You have a place to ask questions, brainstorm ideas, seek advice, etc. Talk about what you're doing to peers all at once. No need to wait for a conference to share your best practices (and to get recognized by peers for such!). Learn from others. Again, no need to wait for a conference to hear what others are doing, what's working and what isn't, etc. Find and read profiles of your peers and contact them. Have an ongoing, organized, written record of previous discussions you can refer to anytime.

Community Management Wiki For more information on how to effectively participate in an Online Community of Practice / Knowledge Network knowledgenetworks.wikispaces.com/ The Network will be as good as you make it – please participate!

Next Steps One way I can use what I have learned today is … I plan to: – Create an account – Join the Networks that interest me – Introduce myself on the Network – Spread the word to colleagues

Questions? Use #6 to unmute your phone and ask a question --- then *6 to mute after Use the chat window Ask questions on the Knowledge Network at bit.ly/ACNETQ
