Ben Craig, Operations Director 25 April 2013 DECC Fuel Poverty Project The Delivery Experience

About Us Formed in 2007 as a joint venture between a firm of chartered surveyors and a construction contractor Specialist skills in insulation (hard to treat homes, EWI, IWI) Have helped over 2,000 private customers and some 50 organisations with energy saving measures Accredited to the leading industry standards

Our Clients

External Wall Insulation External wall insulation (EWI) is our core service. We are accredited with three of the leading UK systems Extremely effective for solid wall houses (brick or concrete) or those with hard to treat cavities Involves cladding a property in insulation and then render to a specification and finish of your choice EWI can save between £ on household heating bills and some 1.9 tonnes of carbon per annum

How does EWI work? Defective render removed and property ‘dubbed out’ Base track secured above DPC and over or under cills fitted Insulation boards mechanically fixed to walls A 4mm render coat is applied to the boards and mesh set into it A second 2mm coat is applied over the top and trowelled smooth When dry, the walls are primed and top coated

How does EWI work?

The Key Issues in Delivery Resident awareness and understanding, leading to ‘buy in’ The importance of customer care on a site that is ‘lived in’ Attention to detail and tidiness on site Information and communication with residents to prevent rumour Good working partnership with the main contractor or client Continual assessment and quality control Timing and accurate weather forecasts!

The Future? More than 8 million solid wall or hard to treat properties in UK ECO and Green Deal funding will help facilitate and finance work Importance of partnerships between funders / clients / installers This is not an easy insulation measure, quality is crucial
