Sharon Kaiser, ES Submissions Coordinator October 2013

 The December Count is the Special Education Count Day that determines the amount of funding Allocation that will be received for the next year.  CDE announces the Award Allocation each spring based on the previous December Count  CSI Begins building the budget around February for the next year

 The Data Pipeline is brand new… ◦ Patience is a virtue  CDE is having many issues:  Login issues  System overload  Compatibility Thank you for understanding!

 CSI (Sharon) will pull a current roster for each school from Alpine ◦ This roster will be sent to each school to see which students will be reported on December 1  Corrections, additions or deletions, will be ed to Sharon from each school to make changes. ◦ Depending on the corrections, it will be done at CSI and a new spreadsheet will be sent back to the school for verifying. This process will go back and forth until December 1. We want to capture all students before and on December 1 for counting.  Once spreadsheet is clean for both CSI and school, Sharon will submit to the Data Pipeline.  Any questions from this submittal will be asked of the specific school.

 December 1 Count: ◦ Differs from October count process as it requires more details obtained from an IEP ◦ IEP must be current and in place by December 1 st ◦ ALPINE is used to collect the IEP & required information ◦ If the Information is not in ALPINE- we have no way of knowing if the student will meet the required info…

 Scanned attachments must be current with student in Alpine  Examples ◦ All Signature pages i.e Participants Signature pages ◦ Previous IEP that is an Eligibility ◦ Permission to Assess (if applicable) ◦ Permission to Place

 December Count has two main components: 1. Student Data -Includes many details about student: demographics, disability, etc 2. Staff Data - Includes CDE license verification - Includes FTE status, salary, hours…

 STUDENT  All information must be current on Alpine ◦ All new students added with an “Initial” or “Transfer” ◦ All exited students reported to CSI to be taken off of current Alpine roster ◦ Information on Alpine must be complete – dates, disability, hrs. of service per week ◦ Use of full legal last name for child ◦ Must have a middle name or NMN reported in Alpine

 STAFF ◦ Will need current information on each Teacher working with the children. This includes Special Ed teacher, S/L teacher, OT, PT, etc. ◦ HR forms for Highly Qualified and general HR form were to be filled out by each teacher in the fall. Make sure that each of those have been scanned and sent to Sharon.
