Algebra I or Algebra I HA; Geometry HA; Biology I HA The course title and grade will appear on the student’s high school transcript, so colleges can verify that the course was completed. The student will receive a credit for the course; however the grade will not factor into the student’s high school GPA. Students who earned a grade of C or C- are strongly encouraged to repeat the course in ninth grade. Students who earned a D+ or lower must repeat the course in ninth grade to remain eligible for a Core 40 with Technical or Academic Honors Diploma. The course counts towards the respective subject requirements for the Core 40 Diploma, the Core 40 with Technical Honors Diploma, and the Core 40 with Academic Honors Diploma. The course counts towards the 47 credits needed to graduate.

High School credited courses, which ARE NOT factored into GPA Credited courses reflected in number of overall credits toward high school graduation from middle school, online, and at the high school. Courses taken at the high school which ARE factored into GPA GPA does not reflect Middle School credits or grades

AVON HIGH SCHOOL Advanced Placement / Honors Program COURSE WEIGHTING

Why Take Honors / AP Courses ? Complete Requirements for the Academics Honors Diploma. Better prepare students for rigor of college work. Better prepare students for standardized tests that determine college admission and scholarships.

Why use grade weighting Encourages students to take more rigorous courses. Rewards students with higher GPA Helps maintain higher class rank Ensures that students with the highest rankings have taken the most challenging curriculum.
