2 Elite Scholars program was created upon the premise of a chance and a choice of something different. The mission of Elite Scholars program is to prepare and empower young learners in grades 6-12 th grade. The Elite Scholar middle school will use the Pre –AP and Honor classes as the framework for the curriculum and delivering instruction. The criteria and content of the Advanced Placement (AP) program for high school provides academic rigor and challenges in language arts, math, science and social studies at a rapid pace. Students will earn 3 high school credits by the end of their 8th grade year.

3 The Selection Process The Elite Scholar program is open to all Arlington students 6 th -12 th. However first consideration are giving to those students with good entrance and academic test scores and excellent teacher recommendations.

7 What does it mean? *(HC) High School Credit. 8th graders are offered courses in coordinate algebra, foreign language and physical science. Upon successful completion of these courses, students earn high school credit. (DE) Dual Enrollment. Students in grades 11 th and 12 th grade are encouraged to enrolled in the Accel program. The Accel program is for students at eligible high schools that wish to take college level coursework for credit towards both high school and college graduation requirements. Eligible students must meet certain criteria. The program is offered during the fall, winter, and spring terms of the school year.

8 What if I only want Honor courses? Students are encouraged to take advantage of honor classes in any core or fine art area without being apart of the Elite Scholars program.

9 How does Elite Scholar benefit? In order to stay in line with the Ga. Hope Scholarship program, Arlington has created a new rigorous program to ensure our students will be prepared to receive the Ga. Hope scholarship. New academic requirements are included in the HOPE legislation. These changes will impact students graduating from high school.

Hope requirements for the class of 2015 Advanced math, such as Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry, Math III, or an equivalent or higher course taken at an eligible high school or taken for degree level credit at an eligible postsecondary institution; Advanced science, such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology II, or an equivalent or higher course taken at an eligible high school or taken for degree level credit at an eligible postsecondary institution; Advanced placement courses in core subjects; International baccalaureate courses in core subjects; Minimum number of courses required to be eligible: 2

Hope requirements for the class of 2016 Advanced math, such as Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry, Math III, or an equivalent or higher course taken at an eligible high school or taken for degree level credit at an eligible postsecondary institution; Advanced science, such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology II, or an equivalent or higher course taken at an eligible high school or taken for degree level credit at an eligible postsecondary institution; Courses taken at a unit of the University System of Georgia in core subjects where such courses are not remedial and developmental courses; or Advanced foreign language courses taken at an eligible high school or taken for degree level Minimum number of courses required to be eligible: 3

13 Dual Credit Point University Graduate from college in less time. With dual credit enrollment, students can enter college with few course credits on his/her transcript – which means they may be able to graduate from college and enter graduate school or the work force more quickly. Learn in a Christian environment. At Point, our courses are taught by Christian faculty members who work to integrate faith and learning.
