I. Greek Religion A. Beliefs 1. Were polytheistic 2. Unlike the Hebrews, Persians, and Egyptians, Greek religion was not concerned with personal morality or life after death.

To explain emotions that sometimes make people lose self-control c. They believed religion could bring them certain benefits in their current life. (a good harvest, good luck)

II. Greek Mythology A. Myth 1. To explain their world Greeks created Myths, which are traditional stories about god, goddesses, and heroes. 2. Many of Western civilization’s symbols, metaphors, words, and idealized images come from ancient Greek mythology.
