1 Greek Gods Greeks believed that the Gods lived on Mt. Olympus, the highest point in Greece and from there controlled nature that was based on their moods. They were not thought to be all powerful, they are shown as and mostly act like humans with special powers. They held festivals to honor specific gods. A festival dedicated to Zeus was the Olympics. They believed in an afterlife that was located beneath the Earth in Hades.
