METHODS FOR THE VALIDATION OF COMPETENCIES Training Unit 9.2 Methods and tools for the validation of competencies

The typology of tools to validate the competences and the knowledge acquired mainly and usually used are three: certificate of linguistic preparation carried out; certificate of participation into the transnational mobility experience, Europass – Mobility certification.

Methods and tools for the validation of competencies The certificate of linguistic preparation The scope of this tool is to make transparent the linguistic learning path by the beneficiary. This tool is issued by the organization providing the preparation and is composed by the programme carried out (objectives, contents, linguistic competences transferred duration). The particularities of the linguistic teaching are characterized by existing different methods about certification of knowledge, that are applied by the official bodies delegated to issue certificates recognized throughout the world (obviously after having passed the pertinent proofs and exams).

Methods and tools for the validation of competencies The certificate of participation into the transnational mobility experience This is a certificate issued by the hosting organisation in cooperation with the beneficiary organisation. This certificate attends to make transparent the training and working path understanding and completed by the participant of mobility.

Methods and tools for the validation of competencies The Europass Mobility Certification This is one of five tools that the Europass is structured in, aimed to build a common framework for the transparency of qualifications and competences. These are the five tools: European Curriculum Vitae, that regards the whole personal competences; European languages Passport, that provide information about linguistic competences acquired during the years; Europass Mobility, that documents the mobility experiences; The Supplement to the Certificate, that points out the competences acquired during the educational and vocational training paths; The Supplement to the High School Certificate, that highlights the competences acquired during the Higher Education.

Methods and tools for the validation of competencies The Europass mobility device is composed by a book to be filled in by the sending organization in an agreed language with the mobility person. The book owns five parts: 1 – heading of the book where personal data of the owner are reported; 2 – issue declaration, with data related to the sending organisation that has organised the initiative, which fills in the book; 3 – data about partner organisations of mobility, of both the recipient and hosting organisations 4 – description of the mobility path, including training objectives and the stay duration abroad; 5 – description of knowledge and competences acquired during the mobility, with reference to the technical and professional competences of the specific field, the linguistic knowledge and the social competences required

Methods and tools for the validation of competencies Contents: Typology of tools for the validation of competences. Object of the validation (linguistic preparation, participation, certification of Europass Mobility). Access modalities to Europass certification.
