2 How to organize the mentoring and the tutoring The monitoring of a mobility project. The activity of monitoring is a whole of actions characterized by relevant complexity. The object of the monitoring is manifold and the required skills and competences to carry it out are various. The EU Committee keeps on regarding monitoring an approach that is strongly focused on the control of the financial aspect and the progress of the realization.

3 How to organize the mentoring and the tutoring The monitoring, as well as the assessment, is to be applied at all levels of EU planning The object under observation is made up: the expected results; the alterations during the execution regarding what had been planned; the observance of the quality standards and of the phisical and financial indicators of the realization.

4 How to organize the mentoring and the tutoring The prominent feature of evaluation is the working-out of a judgment: such a judment is based on the intraining bulk provided by the monitoring; is aimed at giving fundamental answers to the intraining requirements of the people concerned with the evaluating.

5 How to organize the mentoring and the tutoring The double object of monitoring in a transnational mobility project (is characterized by two main objects of monitoring and evaluation) output of the project, i. e. the mobility activities abroad and the related results; the project process in its whole, including, activities, outcomes, organization and management.

6 How to organize the mentoring and the tutoring The main roles for the correct realization of the monitoring activity are the following: THE MONITORING MANAGER; THE TUTOR OF THE SENDING ORGANIZATION; THE TUTOR OF THE HOST ORGANIZATION; THE FIRM TUTOR.

7 How to organize the mentoring and the tutoring MONITORING MANAGER: he is in charge of the general approach and of the monitoring and of its implementation; he takes care of the organization of the tools, coordinates the work of the tutors, carries out information gathering activities, produces the established reporting. TUTOR OF THE SENDING ORGANIZATION: he takes care, possibly since the phase of selection, to keep in touch with the trainees and the tutors in situ: He can also accompany the recipients during the mobility, or he can do part of his job working at a distance.

8 How to organize the mentoring and the tutoring TUTOR OF THE HOST ORGANIZATION: as a rule, he is connected to the foreign partner who ensures the interface between the sending organization and the organization where the experience is taking place. This tutor takes care of the reception of the participants, helps them with logistic matters, introduces them in the work environment and faces possible problematic questions; FIRM TUTOR (sometimes improperly called mentor): he is the person whom the firm asks to follow the trainee and help him achieve the training objectives agreed upon with the sending organization.
