Nevada Department of Public Safety 9/12/2015DEM Function Presentation2 Mission Statement The mission of the Division of Emergency Management is to coordinate the efforts of the state and its political subdivisions together in partnership with private and volunteer organizations and tribal nations in reducing the impact of disasters. This is accomplished by developing, planning, implementing, and maintaining programs for prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. The mission of Homeland Security is to collaborate, advise, assist, and engage with various federal, state, local, and tribal entities, private sector, non-governmental partners, and the general public to prevent, detect, and deter terrorism activity in order to minimize the impact on lives, property, and the economy.
