HB5 At GHS, the default plans are the Foundation + Endorsement Plan OR Distinguished + Endorsement Plan. The Foundation Plan is only for those students in danger of not graduating. 7 9/12/2015

FOUNDATION +ENDORSEMENT Replaces previous Recommended High School Plan A student may earn an Endorsement by successfully completing:  Curriculum requirements for Foundation Plan:  4 Credits English  3 Credits Math, Science, Social Studies  Curriculum requirements for one or more Endorsement(s) 8 9/12/2015

FOUNDATION +ENDORSEMENT  Additional coursework to include: An additional credit in mathematics An additional credit in approved science courses And 2 additional elective credits 9 9/12/2015

DISTINGUISHED LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT A student may earn a Distinguished Level of Achievement by successfully completing:  Curriculum requirements for Foundation High School Program  Curriculum requirements for one or more Endorsements  Additional coursework to include: Additional Credit in math, which must include Algebra 2 Additional Credit in an approved science course Two additional elective credits 10 9/12/2015

HB5 Currently, the only difference between the Foundation +Endorsement(s) Plan and the Distinguished Level of Achievement is the requirement that Algebra 2 must be one of the 4 mathematics credits. 11 9/12/2015

BENEFITS OF FOUNDATION + ENDORSEMENTS AND DISTINGUISHED LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT vs. FOUNDATION PLAN The Foundation High School Plan prepares a student for a junior college, but it is not designed to prepare a student for the 4 year university. It is your responsibility to contact the college or university that you plan to attend regarding that specific school’s admission requirements. 12 9/12/2015

BENEFITS OF FOUNDATION + ENDORSEMENTS AND DISTINGUISHED LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT vs. FOUNDATION Many four year university admissions requirements include 4 years of math, with Algebra 2 or higher mathematics coursework. Completing one or more endorsement(s) allows a student the opportunity to acquire a deeper level of understanding within a specific area. This may be more beneficial for college and career readiness than a random selection of electives. 13 9/12/2015

BENEFITS OF FOUNDATION + ENDORSEMENTS AND DISTINGUISHED LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT vs. FOUNDATION PLAN Regardless of class rank, only students on the Distinguished Level of Achievement are eligible for Top 10% Automatic Admission consideration. 14 9/12/2015

Foundation Only In most cases, the Foundation Plan without endorsements will not meet the core requirements for 4 year universities. 15 9/12/2015
