Theme Park Creation Sophomores Task Conclusion Rubric

Task As a group your task is to create a fun, family friendly theme park. There are four sections to chose from: rollercoaster, kids area, water park, and event location. Decide in your group who will be in charge of each specific area the theme park must include. After the group does their research, design using a poster a layout of the theme park. Rollercoaster Kids Area Water Park Events

Rollercoaster Your role is to choose roller coasters that are permitted for adults with some exception of little kids accompanied by their parents. Look through different theme park websites and decide which roller coasters you will have in your theme park. Finally, decide how much space each ride will need when planning out the layout of the theme park. Kids Area Your role is to create specific areas in which children can play and get on rides as well. The rides should be secure enough for parents not to worry about their child’s safety. This area should contain appropriate rides for 2-12 year olds. Keep in mind how much space the rides would need when it comes to planning out the layout of the theme park. Water Park Your role is to create a fun water park. Search different theme parks and choose which water rides you would want in your theme park. Estimate how much space you will need to setup such an area and where other things such as locker rooms and lifeguards would be located. Helpful Links: https://www.sixflags.com/ http://buschgardens.com/ https://www.cedarpoint.com/ http://www.everland.com/web/multi/english/everland/main.html http://www.parcasterix.fr/

Events Your role is to create different locations where events can be held at. Look at examples in other theme parks on how they are set up. Make sure that it can be found easily and how much space the events will need. For instance some may include a dolphin show. The dolphin show would be located near the children’s area is because it more of a family event. Helpful Links: https://www.sixflags.com/ http://buschgardens.com/ https://www.cedarpoint.com/ http://www.everland.com/web/multi/english/everland/main.html http://www.parcasterix.fr/

Conclusion Gather together and decide how each section of the theme park would be located. Also include a food court, bathrooms, lost and found, entrance/ exist, and the parking lot would be located. Using a standard size poster decide on the scale your group will be using. For example and inch can represent a mile.

Rubric 1 2 3 4 Layout There is no organization. Basic layout of a theme park Demonstrates an understanding of where section should be. Layout was well thought out and planned. Creativity Rides seem randomly chosen. Rides are spread around but a bit hard to find. Rides are spread and easy to find. Everything is clear, easy to find, and creates an fun environment. Group Work Not all members participated. Only a few did the majority of the work. Everyone participated but had trouble some. All contributed equal amount of work and worked well together.
