Students will support the writing through the use of pictures and graphics. Students will further develop an understanding or complex vocabulary and high frequency words from the AWL. Students will explore and practice paraphrasing and giving feedback. Targets

AWL Connections Semantic Map Approach To get close or move nearer I sometimes get nervous when I am approached by someone I don’t know. Students often approach me and ask for help.

Activity 1.Read a short children's story. 2.Create group of three. 3.Retell the story to two of the group members. 4.The first person who is hearing the story will paraphrase short parts as the speaker tells the story. (they cannot ask questions, give opinions, or opinions) 5.The second person listening will then give the speaker task specific feedback on their paraphrasing skills. 6.Once this process is complete, the members will switch roles, and complete this process twice (so every member has a chance to have a role).
