Networking Facts  70% of all new jobs are a direct result of Networking  We all Network on a daily basis  For the serious job-hunter, Networking requires more effort

Why You Should Network  It is your ticket to the hidden job-market  It gives you a chance to learn important information about various companies and jobs  You gain insider information about the hiring practices of specific companies  You get the opportunity to promote yourself  You will almost always obtain referrals to others who can offer you even more information

How to Make Contact  Make a list of everyone you have come into contact with in the last 10 years  Compose a letter to each person on your list  Make telephone contacts  Stay in touch and build a rapport  Conduct informational interviews  Send thank-you notes

5 Important Things To Remember  Seek to expand you own network by tapping into another’s networks  Never directly ask individuals in your network for a job  Expect rejection but don’t let it stop you  Stay organized  Be respectful of the contact’s time
