EARTH, WIND AND SUN July 23, 2008 – Steve Schiff Auditorium TIMEEVENT 10:00 – 3:00 Visit the booths hosted by various organizations on many topics including renewable energy, energy and water conservation, green buildings, pollution prevention, sustainable agriculture, and alternative transportation. 11:00 – 12:00 Key Note Speaker Ed Mazria – Architecture 2030 Challenge The 2030 Challenge is a global initiative for all new buildings and major renovations to be carbon neutral by Ed Mazria and the non-profit Architecture 2030 organization are working to rapidly transform the US and global Building Sector from the major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions to a central part of the solution to the global-warming crisis. 1:00-4:30 Green Building and LEED This workshop will present an introduction to and history of Green Building. The U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED rating systems for New Construction, Existing Buildings, and Commercial interiors will be reviewed through case studies and implementation strategies. Federal green building requirements and tools, including energy modeling and Energy Star Portfolio manager will also be addressed. 1:00 – 2:30 Greening Your Life Workshop Learn how to become a greener, more sustainable individual with energy, water and material saving advice that is practical and easy to adopt. Our experts Bruce Milne and Kylene Molley will provide you with the tools you need to make a change. 2:45 – 4:15 Support the Environment and Save Money Too: Rebates and Tax Incentives Workshop Learn how you can apply the various city, state, federal, and other incentives to your home and your life. A panel of experts will provide an overview of the rebates, tax credits and resources available to homeowners and citizens, answering questions, and helping to “pencil out” costs associated with green improvements such as installing photovoltaics or buying a hybrid car.
