Project Plan

Project Progress - Problem Identification Injuries Ankle Joint Anterior Inferior Tibiofibular Ligament Achilles Tendon Comfort/ Support Weight Distribution Gait – Phases Foot Arch

Ankle Joint Uniaxial Hinge, No appreciable lateral movement can occur, Dynamic rotation Knee bent Knee straight

Anterior Inferior Tibiofibular Ligament Most ankle fractures are associated with ligament injuries. Most common injured ligament Caused by Pronation (Rolling ankle)

Achilles Tendon Energy Transfer Most important tendon in leg. Storage and release Transfer to limbs through muscles Overheating Most important tendon in leg. Capable of stretching Heel hits Achilles must counter act this action by stretching

Weight Distribution 1/3 of all weight taken by first metatarsal Heel, Ball and outer foot most affected by propulsion. Runners – 80% Heel strike, 20% mid- foot strike.

Gait - Phases Propulsion Swing and Stance Double Support Phase Jogging, Running

Foot Arch Make up – Tarsal and Metatarsal Bones. Stability comes from ligaments (plantar fascia) Prevents weight being transferred from tibia to ground. Can flatten to 10mm from ground.

Project Progress - Market Rationale/ Target Group Area of high interest and demand. Proven market. Tallest Male/ Female Professional to Smallest Male/ Female Amateur. Potential aim at different position needs.
