Division of Information Technology Project NEThics and Acceptable Use Guidelines Project NEThics promotes responsible use of information technology through user education and policy enforcement. Project NEThics also responds to claims of misuse of university computing resources. The university’s Policy on the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources is online at File sharing without permission of the copyright holder is a crime under the U.S. Copyright Act. Copyright infringers can be sued for statutory damages (from $750 to $30,000 or more per work infringed). Make students aware that their actions have consequences and that peer- to-peer file sharing on campus should be avoided. Students can print from personal computers in Division of IT labs. Students can print from personal computers at other locations over the Internet and pick up their printed documents in Division of IT labs.
