 Miss Mary Pat Pavicic  8 th year teaching at Aurora High School  B.S. in Biology from John Carroll University, M.A. in Life Science Education from Ursuline College  Currently teaching Honors Biology and AP Environmental Science  Assistant Cross Country Coach and Building Improvement Team Member

 This AP environmental science course is a full year course designed to fulfill the requirements of a one semester introductory college course in environmental science. It is interdisciplinary in nature and frequently draws from a wide variety of fields including geology, biology, environmental studies, chemistry, geography and environmental science.

 Unit 1 - Introduction to Environmental Science  Unit 2 - Science Process, Matter, Energy and Cycles  Unit 3 - Water Resources and Pollution  Unit 4 - Ecosystems, Biomes, and Climate  Unit 5 - Biodiversity, Evolution and Species  Unit 6 - Population Growth and Human Populations  Unit 7 - Land Use and Pollution  Unit 8 -Earth Systems and Resources (Soil)  Unit 9 - Energy Resources and Consumption  Unit 10 - Atmosphere, Global Climate change and Air Pollution  Unit 11 - Toxicology and Human Health  Unit 12 -Cities, Economics, Politics and Sustainability

 Multiple formative checks for understanding within each unit to help students and myself monitor their progress throughout the unit.  Post-summative unit assessment reflections to ensure ongoing learning.  Differentiated instruction and group work to ensure the students are able to see the content from various perspectives.  Hands-on lab activities, simulations, and animations.  All PowerPoint notes for each unit are posted on SchoolPointe for personal access.  Notes are also available in the form of concept maps, diagrams, and charts discussed in class.  I am always available for extra help before or after school and am very flexible.
