Welcome To Slapton Ley

Have a look around the Centre, see some of the amazing places we visit and listen to what other students have to say Meet the Tutors

Fieldwork on Start Bay Coast “To see something in real life helps you to remember it. It’s easier to sit in a class room and write it down… when you go out and see something you can remember it and you know what it looks like” Geography student

Get immersed in your subject Each day the Fieldcourse run from 9.15 am to 8.00 pm

Ecology in Slapton Wood in our very special National Nature Reserve “In school you just sit and listen and whereas in fieldwork you need to do it, analyse it and make some results and make conclusions which is different to what you're doing at school” Biology Student

Most of our fieldwork is in sunny weather so bring your sun protection

Very occasionally it rains or it’s cold so don’t forget warm clothes too

The Field Centre campus based around the Edwardian Vicarage

Our chefs provide home cooked food in the Dining Room

Accommodation is comfortable and clean, safe and secure

The Sports Barn “We got to know each other better and I think that’s important as well, I think that is more important than just learning about the subjects, its learning about teamwork and stuff” Biology student

Green Technology “It gives you a view that if you change one little thing, it changes so much more. It’s made me more environmentally aware” Biology student

The Field Centre is on the edge of Slapton village. “It’s a really small village in the middle of nowhere and we’re used to being right close to London and stuff, you kind of forget about everything we have at home. I like it, but I can’t see myself living here as I’d get bored, but it opens your eyes, it’s so relaxed” Geography student

Have a great time, visit amazing places, learn new things and make new friends
