Answer this think question: If you could be anywhere in the world, where would you choose to live and why?.... Describe the type of land features and climate as well. Objective: To use your current knowledge to rationalize a choice. Focus: How to defend a choice with logic and support.

 Leave your notebooks alone…. Just have one clean piece of paper to be headed correctly, name, date, and period #  Line up for Pictures  When you return, Get a map of the fifty United States from the container under the drawers for collecting papers. Begin placing the appropriate abbreviations on each state in Pencil.  Then….. Label the oceans around the United States. In pencil…… follow map rules….

 Learning Objective Students will discover the landforms of the continents and apply relative location on a map or globe.  Focus: Identifying and labeling the 7 continents and the oceans.  1.  Learning Objective: : TSWBAT identify and use cardinal and intermediate directions in relation to geographic landforms and oceans  AGENDA  Have a pencil sharpened and an eraser  Label your items on your test  Take the test over landforms and oceans  Place completed test into the collection bin on my desk. Two piles… test paper white tray, answer sheets clear tray.  Take a worksheet and quietly and independently work on this until the end of class or you can read silently.  **If you have not completed the technology quiz do that this weekend. If you don’t, I will built in time on Monday as well.

What qualities make a person a hero? Do you know any heroes?  Agenda: after the think question, work on your vocabulary words from last week, add equator, globe, and latitude to your lists,  And have your cornell note form ready to take notes.

 Come in and quietly work on the worksheet for the lines of longitude. Individual, quiet work.  Objective: To apply relative location and identifying the lines of longitude to locate items.  Focus: To understand historical events from the past and connect the impact they have on our daily lives.  Quiet and independent work.

 Relative Location: A location of a place in relation to another place (i.e. south or downhill).  Geography: The study of the earth, this includes studying location, regions, physical and human environment interaction and economy.  Compass rose: a symbol on a map that tells you’re the cardinal directions ( n,s,e,w)  Continent: a large land mass on earth, we have 7 continents  Globe: a model of the earth that shows the shape, lands, distances, and directions  Equator: imaginary line that circles the earth like a belt and separates the earth into 2 hemispheres.  Latitude: the way to measure distance in degrees north and south of the Equator  Degrees: A way to measure distance on a map using longitude and latitude.  Prime Meridian: has a value of 0 degrees, runs from the North Pole to the South pole and is measured in 180 degrees East and West of the globe.  Hemispheres: when the lines of latitude divide the earth into half spheres.  Cartographer: the name given to people who study and draw maps.
