COLLEGE ADMISSIONS TESTS COLLEGE ADMISSIONS TESTS

Types of College Admissions Tests The 3 primary admissions tests are: COMPASS TEST ACT SAT

IF I PLAN TO ATTEND A 2-YEAR COLLEGE OR A TECHNICAL COLLEGE, What test do I need to take??

ANSWER: COMPASS OR THE ASSET TEST TAKE ONE OF THESE TESTS IF YOU ARE GOING TO A TECH COLLEGE OR A 2-YEAR COLLEGE WHEN AND WHERE??? DURING THE FALL OF YOUR SENIOR YEAR. CALL THE COLLEGE THAT YOU PLAN TO ATTEND TO SCHEDULE TESTING.

I PLAN TO ATTEND A 4-YEAR COLLEGE … Which test should I take??

Which test is best for me? English, Math, Reading, Science, Writing Score – 1-36 Plan to attend a 4 YR College/University and are taking at least Math 3 No penalty for wrong answers. Is similar to a school achievement test Math 50% Math 25%

Which test is best for me? Review your PSAT scores. If you scored a 50 or higher on the math and reading portions, you probably want to go ahead and take the SAT. If you scored lower than that, the ACT might be a better test for you. Check with your counselor and ask for her recommendation.

When do I sign up???? SAT/ACT Spring of the junior year COMPASS Fall of the senior year Dual Enrollment/Governor’s Honors - Fall of the junior year

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR THE TESTS? ACT- SAT- COMPASS – Contact the college to schedule test date/time

PREPARING FOR THE TESTS BOTH and offer full length practice tests online. CHS offers Preparation classes after school and on Saturdays Practice booklets are available in the guidance office Sign up at to receive newsletters and SAT questions of the day.

College Admissions Tests The very BEST preparation of all is: Take Challenging Courses Read often Study daily If you do your best in school, you will be READY!

Staying on Course for Graduation Remember that your junior grades are the MOST important grades and that grades are the number one factor that colleges consider when they receive your application. You will apply to college next fall, so the latest grades they will see are your junior grades. If you have any credits that you make up, be sure you check out credit connect options in January. You don’t want to be in a junior homeroom your senior year!! Make your junior year one that opens lots of doors to the future for you!
