J APAN Digital Field Trip

J APAN Japan is an island nation in East Asia, located in the Pacific Ocean. Japan’s capitol is Tokyo with a total population of 13 million people. With such a rich culture, Japan has contributed to society such as music, food, and clothing.

S USHI Sushi is a Japanese food consisting of cooked rice combined with other ingredients seafood, vegetables and sometimes tropical fruits. Sushi is often prepared with raw seafood, but some common varieties of sushi use cooked ingredients or are vegetarian. Raw fish (or occasionally other meat) sliced and served without rice is called “sashimi” Sushi was invented in 1799 and is still eaten today. Lets watch some authentic sushi being made:

M USIC Traditional Okinawan Folk Music: Uses instruments like the Sanshin, Shamisen, Sanba, and Taiko drums. Modern Japanese Pop or “J-Pop”: Second largest music market in the world. Winding Road: Famous Japanese singer Ayaka.
