P.L Education of All Handicapped Children Act (1975)

ADA Public Law Text of the Americans with Disabilities Act: Public Law July 26, Prohibits discrimination & ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, State and local government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities, and transportation. It also mandates the establishment of TDD/telephone relay services.

P.L : Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (1990)  Includes b-21  Terminology updated Person –first concept Transition services added Autism and TBI added

Individuals with Disabilities Education Amendment (1997)/P.L  Emphasized education for students with disabilities in the general education program  Increased the emphasis on parental participation in the assessment and IEP process  Mandates progress reports

NCLB (2001)  Emphasizes reading and mathematics at the expense of other critical curricular areas, including physical education, history, music, art, etc.  Center of controversy with regards to testing procedures, consequences of poor test scores.  Recent investigation into including physical education test scores

IDEIA (P.L )  Educational services with NCLB  Reinforces inclusion and evidence based education
