Circuit-Switched IP Communications The HiPath Journey Evolution of Circuit-Switched to Leverage IP Benefits Evolution of IP to Support Circuit-Switched Feature Richness Evolution to Common Applications Evolution to Circuit-Switched IP Communications

HiPath 4000 V1.0 The most important product features! Overview IP Distributed Architecture HiPath 4000 supports the distribution of a single system over an IP infrastructure with full survivability options for the distributed access points. 1 HiPath HG 3500 Family Family of integrated IP Gateways providing HiPath Feature Access IP Trunking IP Distributed Architecture 2 HiPath 4000 Management HiPath 4000 provides an integrated, web-based admin- and service-tool for standalone systems (HiPath 4000 Assistant). The HiPath 4000 Manager expands these functionality to networks. 3

HiPath 4000 V1.0 The most important benefits! Overview Seamless Migration to IP Infrastructure HiPath 4000 allows to leverage all advantages of IP without sacrificing the customer oriented feature richness and reliability of traditional platforms. 1 Wide Range of Standard-based Applications HiPath 4000 realises an optimal support of the customers business workflow by supporting a wide range of standard-based applications. 2 Customer Investment protection by conversion Hicom 300 and Hicom 300 E/H systems can be easily converted to HiPath 4000 protecting the customer investment in software, hardware and employees training. 3

HiPath 4000 V1.0 How to position the product? Overview Successor of Hicom 300 H V1.0 HiPath 4000 is the new IP Convergence Platform for medium to large enterprise customers. HiPath 4000 replaces the Communication Platform Hicom 300 H V1.0. 1 IP Convergence Platform HiPath 4000 is the only IP Convergence Platform for large to medium enterprise customers that offers distributed scalability with the rich features, appli-cations and availability of traditional systems . 2 Practical Convergence Today HiPath 4000 is the right choice for customers who needs circuit-switched features today and wants to have their investment protected when evolving into IP. 3

HiPath Management Concept Overview How HiPath Management manages the system. View of architecture. Umbrella Network Management Other Element Managers Third Party Products E.M. Product X Enterprise Product Landscape EM HiPath Management Applications HiPath Element Manager HiPath integrated Products HiPath 4000 HiPath 5000 Appli- cations HiPath Management Key Points All HiPath products ship with an Element Manager. These Element Managers are responsible for product-specific management functions within their given domain. We will also introduce HiPath-enabled products into the HiPath architecture. Every Element Manager in the HiPath architecture will be designed to connect to an Umbrella Management System. In addition, these Element Managers will be equipped with enhanced interfaces that enable integration into a new management layer that we call HiPath Management. HiPath Management is not another server. Instead, it is a software package that may be installed on an available Umbrella Management platform. If this type of platform is unavailable, the application can run on one of the Element Managers. The functionality of HiPath Management is best explained by means of an example: Once a new employee is hired, his personal data is loaded from the personnel file and his communication resources are added within HiPath Management. This employee may require a telephone line in the Hicom world, a workpoint client for the IP world, and access rights to specific applications and mailboxes. HiPath Management will enable him to execute this administrative chore in a single step. To this end, HiPath Management addresses the appropriate Element Managers and assures that the job is carried out consistently throughout the network. The updated data may then be made available to other applications by means of a directory-based interface. The added value of this functionality is self-evident and our customers have encouraged us to pursue this strategy further.

HiPath 4000 Management Overview Stand-alone HiPath 4000 System with basic integrated Management Server (ADP) Medium and large networks with external Management Server (Primergy / RM) Management Server Client PC Client PC ADP alternative V.24 Hicom 300/ HiPath 4000 Network HiPath 4000 Management Server Options at Wave 3 LAN LAN HiPath 4000 systems will include an integrated under the skins Management Server for basic, local Management functions. This set of functions is called HiPath 4000 Assistant and is a new approach which does not have a predecessor in Hicom 300. The integrated Management Server and its applications will be shipped together with the HiPath 4000 systems for no extra charge. There is only a Client PC needed to access the following functions: Extended Management functionality for stand-alone HiPath 4000 systems and HiPath 4000 networks will be offered on external Management Server platforms: As HDMS the HiPath 4000 Manager will run on an external server. RM/Reliant Unix servers will still be available for migration purposes. For new installations the server platform will be Primergy/UnixWare 7 only. The Windows based HDMS variant, HDMS Winset, will be replaced by a low end Celsius solution. The external Management Server and its applications are the successor products of HDMS. The new family name is HiPath 4000 Manager. Like HDMS the HiPath 4000 Manager consists of a modular set of HW and SW offerings which can be ordered accordingly to the customers need. In principle the HiPath 4000 Manager allows access to the HiPath 4000 Assistant in each particular system.
