Nelson Mandela By Monica LaLena Deanna Stumpp and Joey Anselmo

Africa Afrikaners or white setters had controlled this area like the social structures known as apartheid. This time in Africa it was controlled by Europe through imperialism. At this time Africa was segregated and blacks were treated unequally. The racist Africa had ended after about mid 1990s.

Rise to Power He became the president of South Africa in 1990 until He rose to power with a combination of jobs and characteristics he was involved in with such as being a lawyer, his leadership roles and traits, and joining the ANC ( African National Congress). He rose to power with the help of those who followed him and were willing to brake the law. These groups also followed Gandhi's civil disobedience and non violent protests.

Rise to Power Continued He came to power right after he got out of prison for about 27 years. He got to power so easily because the people didn’t like what was going on with the unequal rights and segregation.

Beliefs Mandela believed in the rights of his fellow people and how they should be treated equally in their country and their home land. Though they were being pushed around by the white people because they were using Africa for its resources. He also believed in Gandhi’s beliefs in civil disobedience( not follow things in just).

Impact on Nation Mandela had certainly made an impact on his nation. If didn’t come to power, then South Africa would still be segregated or going through racial issues today. He also brought back the rights of the people in South Africa. He got removed the apartheid( the legal separation of blacks and whites) from Africa.

Impact on the World As an impact to the world he had brought awareness to many people about human rights which has changed some countries due to what was happening to South Africa.
