There have been many influential artist over the course of history. You will have the opportunity to learn about a musical artist of your choice.

In this Webquest you will… Choose a musical artist that influences or inspires you. Learn about this artist’s history. Discover their contributions to music. Find out who influenced them. Tell others about what you have found.

1) Choose an artist 2) Use the guide provided here to discover more about the artisthere 3) Choose a method of presentation 4) Complete the presentation of your findings

Choose a musical artist that you are familiar with and inspires you or choose an artist that you would like to know more about. The following websites can be helpful if you need ideas. Artist Direct VH1 NPR

Use the guide to assist you in completing research about the artist that you have chosen. The website below may be helpful.guide FamousPeople (the websites in the previous slide may also be useful.)

1) Write an essay using the information that you found. 2) Make a PowerPoint of the information. 3) Create a poster of the information. ***See Mr. Ashley when you are ready to begin creating your presentation.

Each project will be evaluated based on the following 4 point rubric. 1-Unaccepatble2-Passing3-Good4- Excellent Multiple pieces of information are inaccurate and the presentation is difficult to understand. Multiple questions are unanswered. There are no more than 2 pieces of inaccurate information and some information is difficult to understand as presented. 2-3 questions from the guide are unanswered. There is no more than one inaccurate piece of information and most information is presented in an easy to read format. One question from the guide may be unanswered. All information is accurate and presented in an easy to read format. All questions from the guide are answered and additional information is provided.

Thoughts to take away… - There have been many influential artists. - Each has their own unique gifts and styles. - One person can influence another. - Each has their own unique story. - Considerable time, effort, practice, and talent made these people successful. - They all started where you are now…

In order to customize this Webquest the sites, questions on the guide, and options for student presentations may be adapted. Encourage students to use sites other than those provided in their research. Encourage them to use quality sites. A guide for choosing these sites may be found here.here
