Connecting to the Power of Women VOW PIONEERS When the Paris summit on disarmament broke up without solutions in 1960, Toronto Star journalist Lotta Dempsey wrote a column calling on women to do something about the threat of imminent nuclear war. Thousands of women responded. A few of them met with Dempsey and from that meeting came a new group called Voice of Women (VOW). Appendix How to Connect to The Power of Women Educate for active participatory citizenship within today’s context of compounded interconnected threats - as noted herein. Training for peace and anti-nuclear advocacy must be within the political-economic context and a paradigm shift framework. We must never forget history and context. It is imperative to recognize the impact of continental integration on capacity to make our own decisions, policies and the impact of the Security and Prosperity Partnership on sovereignty.
