1.Set up "Adaptation Steering Group" (IASG) State of Play: Preparatory meeting, end 2009 First official meeting planned for September 2010 (three meetings before end 2011) Work Program up to 2012 Implementation of the White Paper on Adaptation

2.Develop the Knowledge Base: establish the 'Clearing House Mechanism' – major adaptation information system State of Play: Working Group on Knowledge Base established. Contract underway developing CHM, due for January 2011 Work Program up to 2012 Implementation of the White Paper on Adaptation

3.Integrating Adaptation into EU Policies State of Play: Communication on Mainstreaming planned for 2011 Preparation of impact assessment underway – review of EU policies – ensure incorporation of adaptation measures Work Program up to 2012 Implementation of the White Paper on Adaptation

4.Develop Adaptation Financing Instruments State of Play: Climate-proofing of EU-funded investments, guidance to be developed Innovative instruments – insurance and financial services. Study to be launched in 2010 Work Program up to 2012 Implementation of the White Paper on Adaptation

5.Enhance External Dimension on Adaptation (pushing forward adaptation agenda through financial support, technology and capacity building) State of Play: Involved in UNFCCC (LCA, NWP, CP/10) negotiations Ensuring adequate fast start finance is made available ASAP Work Program up to 2012 Implementation of the White Paper on Adaptation
