Adopted 29 June 2007 Early action could bring clear economic benefits The EU plays an important role in adaptation Four lines of priority actions to be considered: Early action where current knowledge is sufficient; Integrating adaptation into the EU’s external relations; Filling knowledge gaps with EU-level research; Involving society in preparation of adaptation strategies. Mandate Endorsed by WD in June 2007 Co-leaders DE and COM Three main objectives: Identify best uses of current EU legislation Identify adaptation measures and best practices Strengthen Science/Policy link SSG coordinates climate change activities in CIS In specific groups, targeted climate change activities will continue or will be developed – eg in WG F. Activities 2007 First meeting 28 September -30 participants from MS, stakeholders and NGOs; Information exchange on state of play of adaptation in Member States, relevant research activities and events at EU level; Bonn workshop 20/21 November: ‘How can climate change impacts and their projections be taken into account in river basin management planning’; 70 participants, 2 per MS/organisation.
