The Story Pike Place Fish Market, Seattle WA “There is always a choice about the way you do your work, even if there is not a choice about the work itself.”

The Fish Philosophy

Choose Your Attitude Take Responsibility for your reaction and action Be aware of the choices that you make and their impact on your environment Your day is what you make of it “My buddies and I realized that each day when we come to the fish market we bring an attitude. We can bring a moody attitude and have a depressing day. We can bring a grouchy attitude and irritate our coworkers and customers. Or we can bring a sunny, playful, cheerful attitude and have a great day…. As long as we are going to be at work, we might as well have the best day we can have.”

taps into your natural way of being creative, enthusiastic and having fun. Play is the spirit that drives the curious mind, as in “Let’s play with that idea!” It’s a mindset you can bring to everything you do. EnthusiasmCreativity Stepping outside the box Play

Make Their Day finding simple ways to serve or delight people in a meaningful, memorable way. It’s about contributing to someone else’s life, not because you want something out of it, but because that’s the person you want to be. Be mindful Be the positive experience that they remember

Be There Focus Be emotionally present Actively listen Actively respond

Apply it
