© Leadership Strategies 2 Manage my personal behaviors Create a vision of successful functioning Align people’s hearts, minds and actions toward the vision

© Leadership Strategies 3 Confidence Confidence is an outward projection of my state of mind, it is how much I believe in myself; believe that I/we can accomplish what I/we have to do. Sometimes people tell me that I am confident when I am not - my insider’s view is very different. Be careful: not feeling confident does not always mean not being confident.

© Leadership Strategies 4 Some things boost my confidence: e.g., when the results show that my ideas are right I get validated, affirmed. Some things help me project more confidence when I do not have it: e.g., product knowledge, rehearsing, planning, preparing lists - these help me affirm before I start for real.

© Leadership Strategies 5 Confidence breeds confidence. When I behave confidently, then others respond confidently and things get done easier. An unconfident meeting with a customer can be a nightmare. The lack of confidence gets amplified. Can I manage my confidence? Can I help my team gain more confidence?

© Leadership Strategies 6 Easy: List Four Situations In Which You Did Not Feel Confident:

© Leadership Strategies 9 “What you focus on in life is what you receive.” If this is true, then your confidence is impacted strongly by what you focus on. If I focus on weakness I may not be confident, if I focus on strength I may be.

Always restate higher beliefs. Use positive reinforcement for behaviors and thoughts. Recognize the “valley of despair” and minimize it.
