Mannigham YMCA – LAP ( Leisure Access Program )

What is LAP?? The Leisure Access Program (LAP) is a recreational and social program developed for teenagers and young adults in the Manningham area living with disabilities. Placed in to groups (determined by function levels and program suitability), a variety of programs* are offered, which are suitable to each particular groups needs and interests whilst also providing respite for parents and carers Three Groups Red : High needs Green : y/o’s RAP : Over 25’s high functioning

RED GROUP!! Red Group is a recreational and social program for young people aged 15+ years living with a disability. The program aims to develop social skills with peers through social and recreational opportunities in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Green Group Green Group is a recreational program for teenagers and young adults aged years with mild intellectual disabilities. This program aims to provided social opportunities and develop skills amongst peers in a comfortable and relaxed environment.

RAP Group RAP Group is a recreational and social program for adults over 25 years with mild intellectual disabilities. This program aims to develop social skills with peers in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

What is SHLAP?? School Holiday programs (SHLAP) offers an opportunity for all LAP members to get to know each other and socialize with their friends. All groups are fully supervised and supported by qualified and enthusiastic staff during each activity. SHLAP is a School holiday offered to all groups

SHLAP ACTIVITIES (Summer Focused) Melbourne Jail Theater Productions Sky High Dandegnong’s Maze/BBQ Ripponlea Estate, Gardens tour Werribee Mansion Warbaton Education Centre Studley Park Boat House Puffing Billy Fire Museum – Fridays on Holidays!!!!

Other Ideas Arts and Craft days (very easy to organize!!) Cooking Days Movie/Singstar days (If facilities available) Go Carting Treasure Hunts Comedy Club/Festivals Imax

SHLAP – Favourites Bowling – Disability Discounts Movies – Carer’s Free Lunches e.g Smorgies, Santes (Crown), resturants MSAC – Melbourne Sports and Aquatics centre Swimming Comedy Club *****Bowling/Movies and any thing to do with ABBA almost always guaranteed to book out!!! *******

Who is Eligible People with a disability above the age of 14 years old Due to transportation it is a limiting program for people with physical disabilities Participants are made up of people out side the manningham sector People attending the program live both in CRU’s and at home!

Referral Process After enquiring about the service by : -Internet : Phone: Talk to Susan Burns to: -Fill out a medical form -Booking sheet! -Turn up to programs!!!
