3 About CADS  What is CADS?  Truly unique programme of events centred at the Seashell Trust in Cheadle Hulme.  Provide sport and physical activity in a fully inclusive non-judgemental environment for young people aged 5-25yrs.  Now in its 11 th year it has become a very successful event.  New referrals from different areas.

4 CADS and sport at the Seashell Trust CADS is part of the Seashell Trusts wider strategy and focus We are aiming to become a regional and national centre for inclusive sport and recreation We want to invite the wider to community to the Seashell Trust and share knowledge, expertise and to meet our students.

6 CADS The main aim of the CADS programme is to: Provide sport and physical activity in an inclusive, supportive and non-judgemental environment Encourage and ultimately sustain participation in sport by young disadvantaged people (especially those with severe and complex disabilities) alongside and not excluding their non-disabled peers Create a person-centred series of events in which the ability level and needs of each individual are accounted and catered for

9 What we offer CADS Holiday activities from 1-4 day event every school holidays. CADS term time clubs - Climbing -Basketball -Young peoples gym session -Football -Action and Moves -Sitting volleyball (pilot) Other activities -One to one and group swimming lessons -Aqua Therapy and Aqua Fit classes -Fully inclusive Fitness suite

13 CADS is Inspirational Inspiration is a very strong motive for young people. We constantly witness inspirational moments in which young people overcome many obstacles to achieve their sporting potential.

14 The importance of Equality The entire CADS Programme thrives on equality and inclusion. Every coach, volunteer or participant is welcome to attend our events. We strive to allow access to all regardless of ability level.

15 Direct payments What are direct payments? A Direct Payment is funding which is paid direct to you from the Local Authority to buy services as agreed in your support plan. Who can request a Direct Payment? A child’s parent, young person (over 16) or person nominated in writing by you to act on your behalf may request a Direct Payment if the child or young person is in receipt of social care funding made available through disabled children social care short breaks budgets. What it can be spent on? Access to local community and groups. Access to a variety of short breaks Personal Care Day Trips/activities Personal Assistants

16 Direct payments What the money will be spent on This is important to me because This is important to my family because How will this be arranged and by who How much will this cost? Total cost to 31 st March EXAMPLES (Appropriate spend) 1:1 Support worker (need to state number of hours per week e.g. 4 hours per week term time, and 6 hours per week school holidays) E.g. Social interaction, promotes my independence, building confidence and life skills. Accessing the community, having fun, travel training. Gives them a break from their caring responsibilities. Choosing & Purchasing team with parent/carer if using a registered support worker. Parent/carer if using relative (who doesn’t live in the same household) or family friend, neighbour, personal trainer, school support etc. £10 per hour (DP rate) therefore £40 per week term time and £60 per week school holidays. £2,360 per annum Gym membership Health, builds confidence, accessing the community, doing something enjoys Gives them a break from their caring responsibilities. Parent/carer£20 per month membership fee £240 per annum
