Join network invites 1.Click on ‘send invite’ to send out invites 2. After you have entered the name, address and personal message, click ‘send invite’ 3

Alternatively search for registered STN users using the directory There are 2 options for searching for current users: 1. Here you can select whether they are Trainer or Assessor, by clicking on the radio buttons. 3. Select the category your chosen individual falls in to 2. If you know the postcode of The individual you’re searching For, enter it in the open field. Alternatively, if you know the name or address of the person you’re searching for, enter it in the box and click ‘Find person’ 4

Inviting trainers or assessors to your network Once you have found your chosen individual you can then invite then to join your company network. Click to invite as a trainer to your network Or Click to invite as an assessor to your network Alternatively you can click ‘register interest’ and leave a personal message of your choice. 5

Send availability requests 1. Click on the calendar icon to send availability requests to your networked trainers or assessors Pop up: 2. Enter the staff type from the drop down and the time you need them available from. If you have sms credits then you can send text messages, if not then select send . Click ‘send requests’ If you would like to purchase sms credits then click on the hyper link. Select the amount you would like to purchase Click ‘checkout’ Click on the PayPal logo and follow payment instructions By clicking this button you can change the view of your calendar 6

View updated calendar Once your trainers or assessors have replied to either your sms or , your staff calendars will be updated to show whether they are available or not. Example: Availability request 7

Alternatively Trainers and Assessors can request work 1.Click ‘request work’ Once you have clicked on the ‘request work’ button on the navigation bar, you will be able to see all the courses being run by your networked organisation. Portfolio management Safety Training Network’s course management provides a system to store and manage the HSE criteria to be a First Aid At Work approved organisation. Our Business Basic (free version) also provides portfolio management for trainers and assessors. STN has been designed around the guide lines HSE sets out. We aim to provide our users with a quality system, allowing them to keep a permanent record of their continuing professional development HSE approval Each trainer should have a personal portfolio that contains: A current and valid FAW certificate A formal training/teaching qualification (See below); and either – Further and Adult Education Teachers Certificate – Cert Ed/PGCE/B Ed/M Ed – CTLLS/DTLLS – NVQ level 3 in Training and Development – NVQ level 4 in Training and Development – IHCD Instructional Methods – IHCD Instructor Certificate – First Aid at Work Trainer/Assessor Qualification – English National Board 998 – Training Group A22, B22, C21, C23, C24 (training only) – PTLLS (training only) – A1 (D32/33) (assessing only) – A2 (D32) (assessing only) A detailed, chronological list of evidence to show the trainer has regularly provided FAW training during the previous three years. If this is limited, evidence of other first-aid training that demonstrates all the elements of the FAW syllabus are covered by the trainers experience; or Evidence to show the trainer has conducted at least two practical and two theoretical first-aid training sessions under the supervision of a qualified assessor, in the last three years. Each assessor should have a personal portfolio that contains: a current and valid FAW certificate (unless exempt – see paragraphs 10-11); a formal assessing qualification (see Table 1); and either a detailed, chronological list of evidence to show the assessor has regularly provided FAW assessments during the previous three years. If this is limited, evidence of other first-aid assessments that demonstrate competence; or evidence to show the assessor has conducted at least two practical and two theoretical first-aid assessments under the supervision of a qualified assessor, in the last three years. From page 11 this guide takes both a trainer and an assessor through setting up their online Skillbook's, in line with FAAMS requirements. You can upload anything you like in any format POP-UP Click ‘Browse’ to start uploading files 1. Click on ‘My account’ 2. Click on ‘File store’ Enter the description, category and valid to and from dates. Once your file appears in the box next to the browse button, click ‘Save’ 11

Create new portfolio 1. Click on ‘Portfolio List’ 2. Click on ‘Create New Portfolio’ POP-UP 3. Enter portfolio description or Create from template 4. Click ‘Save and Close’ 12

Portfolio Builder 1. Click ‘Open’ to start adding pages to you portfolio Click Edit if you’d like to change the description of your portfolio Click ‘Delete’ to remove portfolio 13

Link items to your portfolio If you have chosen a default template then you will have named pages marked out for you. However, if you have created your own description you will need to add pages. To do this: 1.Click on ‘Add New Page’ 2.Enter a page description 3.Click ‘Save’ *You will need to do this for each individual page you want to enter into your portfolio 4. Select page as shown in this picture 5. Click ‘link’ You need to link items from your file store to pages in your portfolio POP-UP 6. Select item and Then click ‘Link’ 14

View Evidence Your evidence will now appear against the page description. You can follow the steps outlined in Page 14 for all the evidence you would like to link to this portfolio. 15

Create Skill Profile 16 1.Select and click on ‘Skill Profiles' 2.Click on ‘New Skill Profile’ POP-UP 3. Enter description, visible to, Skill profile type, postcode and working radius in miles 4. Select the skill category By clicking on one of the check boxes 5. Select which portfolio you would like to link with this Skill profile Skill profiles are what will be viewable by the public through the STN directory or by sending someone your unique URL and any networked organisation. Your skill profile will list your skills, it will stipulate whether you are a trainer or an assessor. It will also show anyone, especially organisation how far you are willing to travel, which can vary between each skill profile. By linking your portfolio/s you can also provide evidence of your skills, which is particularly important in this industry. 6. Click ‘Save’
