International Internship Program (IIP)… Preparing our future global leaders College of the Desert is preparing our future global leaders by offering J-1 visa internships for international intern’s to compliment their education. PROGRAM OFFERINGS: Thoroughly screened employers Match interns requests/educational background with employer Placement confirmation prior to arrival to the U.S. J-1 visa processing assistance Flexibility in internship length and start dates Orientation sessions upon arrival Housing placement assistance Ongoing support and evaluation Social activities Professional development seminars Certificate of Completion given at end of internship

The Process… Application Requirements 1.Application fee - $ Completed Application 3.Certified Copies of Official University Transcripts (cannot have graduated more than 1 year ago) 4.English Proficiency Requirements (TOEFL 61 iBT or 500 paper based; IELTS 6.0; or TOEIC 650) 5.Resume/CV 6.Personal Statement 7.Housing Application (optional) Internship is monitored and evaluated by International Internship Coordinator Upon J-1 visa approval, intern makes arrangements to arrive at COD for orientation and to begin the internship Intern is evaluated by employer and upon successful completion, the intern earns a Certificate of Completion International Internship Coordinator will begin the J-1 visa processing with InterExchange Applicant accepts their internship placement and submits deposit Intern is interviewed by International Internship Coordinator and then provided with internship options Intern submits application and supporting documents along with application fee

Internship Program Expenses (all figures in US dollars) Costs 3 month placement Application fee:$50 Program fee:$900 Total:$950* Costs 6 month placement Application fee:$50 Program fee$1820 Total: $1870* Additional fees: A SEVIS fee of $180 will be required by the U.S. government for all interns. Interns will also pay a J-1 visa processing fee including insurance to InterExchange: $585/3 month program and $805/6 month program. Housing: Estimated fees for housing can range from $400 - $1,000 month, based on housing choices *Customized group programs are available, please inquire for pricing **Commissions vary based on program structure, please inquire**
