5 Who is considered an “international student”?
For OIA’s purposes, this just refers to students who are in F-1 or J-1 non-immigrant status—i.e., students whose immigration status in the US is dependent on their status as full time students at Ohio State.

11 What is ongoing orientation?
The Office of International Affairs has developed creative programming to increase opportunities for international students to get involved and facilitate growing relationships between international students and the Ohio State campus community through social, cultural and educational activities. The Global Engagement team provides opportunities for international and domestic students to experience the diverse culture at Ohio State. Global Engagement has implemented a variety of programs and activities to better promote cross-cultural relationships on campus.

Weekly sessions for international and domestic students Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. in 160 Enarson Classroom Building Topics range from cultural stereotypes to dating norms

Screenings of new international films Panel discussion prior to film Every fourth Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Gateway Film Center

16 English Conversation Program
Promotes the development of global English skills by facilitating student-led interactions between a linguistically and culturally diverse group of individuals All participants, native and non-native speakers of English, can increase their global competency

17 English Conversation Program Group Dynamics
Groups are intentionally linguistically/culturally diverse Groups are egalitarian in nature The success of the group is dependent on each individual member Meet six times per semester Three large events per year Spanish Arabic English (USA) English (India) Mandarin
