 Introduction to the Mine Detecting System (MDS)  Explain overall objective of course Class agenda/schedule  Discuss class rules/regulations Safety precautions Classified materials Unit 1 Course Introduction/Overview See Interactivity/navigation. **Since graphics are too large to insert in box, added to end of storyboard Describe the MDS and its capabilities, explain the graphic on the screen. As you go through the MDS capabilities, click on next slide to discuss course content, graphics of tethered mines and what one looks like after washed up on the beach after breaking away from its mooring, click on next slide to show floating in water mines and sea life attracted to the mines, followed up by detonation of mine in water next to a ship. Click slide 7slide 7 slide 8 slide 9 Slide #2 Onscreen Content Detailed Script Interactivity / Navigation

 Example of an Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) front page Unit 2 MDS Technical Publications See Interactivity/navigation. **Since graphics are too large to insert in box, added to end of storyboard The IETM would be launched in another web browser tab. Students will have the capability to launch the IETM as well. Using the desk top computers in the class, students can navigate through the IETM as the instructor clicks on hyperlinks embedded in the IETM. Each hyperlink or radio button on the front page will take the student to a different section IETM which is a different teaching (discussion point) in the lesson plan. Table of contents (TOC) Figures (graphics of MDS and associated parts/components) Tables (lists steps/procedures to follow in sequential order) Chapters (each chapter has a definition of what is entailed within) Click slide 10slide 10 Slide #3 Onscreen Content Detailed Script Interactivity / Navigation

 Explain the different types of maintenance on the MDS. Unscheduled Periodic/scheduled  Describe and show the different equipment peculiar to the MDS See Interactivity/navigation. **Since graphics are too large to insert in box, added to end of storyboard There are a myriad of maintenance tasks that can be performed on the MDS we are only going to cover the specific components with high failure rates and periodic/scheduled maintenance. Additionally we will discuss peculiar support equipment (PSE) needed for the MDS Click slide 11slide 11 Slide #4 Onscreen Content Detailed Script Interactivity / Navigation Unit 3 MDS Maintenance

 Discuss the testing and troubleshooting tasks associated with the MDS Testing MDS Troubleshoot MDS to determine fault Unit 4 MDS Testing and Troubleshooting See Interactivity/navigation. **Since graphics are too large to insert in box, added to end of storyboard Testing and troubleshooting the MDs is a critical step in performing any type of maintenance on the MDS. By being able to perform built in test (BIT) on the MDS, the student will be able ascertain if the MDs is fully mission capable. By troubleshooting the MDS the student will be able to recognize and identify specific data logs to determine which component/s failed and whether any corrective maintenance can be performed to restore the MDS to FMC. Click slide 12slide 12 Slide #5 Onscreen Content Detailed Script Interactivity / Navigation

 Perform specific maintenance tasks assigned by the instructor.  Demonstrate the ability to utilize IETMS, tools, PSE required to perform tasks Unit 5 MDS Maintenance Labs See Interactivity/navigation. **Since graphics are too large to insert in box, added to end of storyboard By having the student engage in the performance of specific maintenance tasks, BIT checks, and troubleshooting the instructor can ascertain whether knowledge of the MDS was transferred. Furthermore, the laboratory sheets will determine if the student can complete tasks with the instructor demonstrating the task first, followed by the student performing the task with little assistance from the instructor, to no assistance from the instructor.
