1 1 Introduction to OBIEE: Learning to Access, Navigate, and Find Data in the SWIFT Data Warehouse Lesson 2: Logging in and out of OBIEE This course, Introduction to OBIEE, provides a high-level overview of the basic elements and navigation in OBIEE, the SWIFT Data Warehouse query and reporting tool. OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition) provides State of Minnesota agencies the ability to retrieve and present financial and human resources data from the SWIFT Data Warehouse in a variety of formats including queries, reports and dashboards. OBIEE delivers a user-friendly business intelligence platform that makes it simple to access data, whether the user is running pre- built queries and reports or creating them from the ground up. This course is recorded as a PowerPoint presentation, allowing you to review it at your own pace. Click your mouse or use your keyboard arrow keys to advance slides. Red boxes shown in demonstrations are intended to simulate mouse clicks in OBIEE. NOTE: Many of the screenshots in this course were recorded in a demonstration environment. 2 2 Lesson 2: Logging in and out of OBIEE Users gain access to OBIEE through the SWIFT Administrative Portal. As with all applications accessed from the portal, users may only access OBIEE using a state -networked computer or via a secure remote connection tool such as VPN. This lesson will introduce: How to access and login to the SWIFT Administrative Portal How to access the OBIEE application The OBIEE home page - OBIEE User Support Dashboard How to log out of OBIEE

3 3 The first step is to open a web browser and navigate to the SWIFT Administrative Portal’s sign on page. The URL for the SWIFT Administrative Portal is provided below. http://portal.swift.state.mn.us Lesson 2: Logging in and out of OBIEE

4 4 Enter your User ID and Password. This is the same user ID and password that you use to access Employee Self Service. (A User ID and Password have been entered for purposes of this demonstration.) Lesson 2: Logging in and out of OBIEE

6 6 Once you’ve signed in, the Administrative Portal displays links to all of the applications you have security clearance to listed within the Enterprise Menu. Click the SWIFT Data Warehouse Access link. Lesson 2: Logging in and out of OBIEE

7 7 The Administrative Portal’s SWIFT Data Warehouse Access page displays. Click the Warehouse Reporting link. Lesson 2: Logging in and out of OBIEE

8 8 OBIEE opens to the OBIEE Support dashboard, which is the default starting page for OBIEE. This dashboard provides users with links to helpful information about the tool and the data that’s currently available. Let’s check out some key items on the OBIEE Support Dashboard. 9 9 The OBIEE Tool Training section provides links to helpful training materials: Getting Started - a document that introduces users to Oracle’s online tutorial – Creating Analyses and Dashboards. If you will be creating analyses, you are encouraged to check that out. 11 11 The Access/Support Documentation section provides links to various support documents. We’ll highlight a few of these items: Agency Administrators – a link to launch an OBIEE report listing your agency’s OBIEE administrators. These individuals are responsible for managing your agency’s shared folder and permissions to items in that folder. SWIFT Data Warehouse Security Role Matrix provides information about the 4 SWIFT Data Warehouse security roles, including which specific permissions are granted with each of the roles. FAQ – provides answers to frequently asked questions about the SWIFT Data Warehouse. Lesson 2: Logging in and out of OBIEE

12 12 The banner at the top of the page is called the Global Header. It’s always visible at the top of the page while you’re logged into OBIEE. The links in the Global Header provide you access to all the OBIEE functionality that’s available to you. We’ll review the Global Header in detail in a later lesson. 16 16 Terminology Review Administrative Portal: Agency Administrator: OBIEE Support Dashboard: The point of entry for Statewide Administrative systems (i.e. SWIFT, SEMA4, and the SWIFT Data Warehouse). Users must enter their username and password to access the portal. Agency user who manages his or her agency’s Shared Folder in OBIEE. The Agency Administrator is responsible for setting permissions for subfolders, dashboards and reports within the shared agency folder. Also known as the SWIFT Data Warehouse Welcome dashboard, the OBIEE Support dashboard is the default starting page for OBIEE. Provides links to helpful information about OBIEE and the data that’s available.
