Summer 1 (to May half term) ‘Growth and Growing’ topic Develop care and concern for living things and for the environment Planting seeds and understand what they need to grow and flourish Looking at the lifecycles of different animals Talking about how we have changed since we were babies RE – The Mustard Seed

What can you do? ‘Growth and Growing’ topic Look at baby photographs with your child and talk about how they have changed. What can they do now that they could not when they were a baby? Look at different plants and flowers when you are out and about. Talk about how they grow and how you can help to look after them. Allow children to help with gardening and also with recycling.

Spring 2 (to Summer holiday) ‘Transport’ and ‘People who help us’ topic Looking at different types of transport Comparing transport ‘now’ and ‘then’ Talking about journeys that we have been on RE – The Good Samaritan TRANSITION PROJECT – People who help us stay safe/People who help us at home Continued in Reception – People who help us at school

What can you do? ‘Transport’ topic Look at holiday photos and talk about journeys that your child has been on Talk about the different types of transport that you see whilst you are out and about Talk about safety (road, train, water) with your child

‘ People who help us’ topic Point out ‘People who help us’ when you are out and about (and their vehicles) Talk with your child about ‘Stranger Danger’ and ‘Safe Strangers’ Start to talk with your child about their move to Reception…be positive! What can you do?
