2007 CT State Employees’ Campaign for Charitable Giving

What is the CSEC? CSEC The Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign is the once a year opportunity for state employees to contribute to non-profit charities at the workplace.

Who makes up the CSEC? The Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign overseen by a group of state employees who are appointed to serve on the State Employees’ Campaign Committee.

Why should employees give? Through the CSEC, you can make a single gift to help people locally, throughout the nation, and around the world.

What do contributions accomplish? The contributions made by you and your fellow employees make possible a wide range of vital services: Shelter for the homeless Protection of the environment Research for cures of diseases Care for children and seniors

How can I give? The Campaign provides two methods for which a pledge can be made. Payroll Deduction is the easiest, most effective way to contribute to your community. As little as $1 per pay period is the minimum contribution. You may also make a one-time gift…

A one-time gift? Your one-time donation in the form of cash or check can also make a difference.

Where can my gift go? State employees are provided with a directory that lists almost 1000 charities that have gone through a rigorous screening process by the CSEC committee.

Where does my gift go? You have the option of designating all or a portion of your contribution to one or more of the charities listed in the 2007 Directory. You can designate to as many charities listed in the Directory as you wish.

Reach out to those in need; Sustain local, national, & international health, educational, environmental, & social service organizations; Make a meaningful contribution to our community. Why have others given? This campaign provides a direct way to:

James M. “Skip” Thomas Commissioner of the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), serves as the Chair of the 2007 Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign. Who is the 2007 Campaign Chair?

Steven Rief, CT State Police Union President, serves as the Union Chair of the 2007 Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign. Who is the Union Campaign Chair?

The Campaign continues until Friday, November 30. However, contributions are always accepted throughout the year. How long is the Campaign?

Some reasons to give… You never know where your kindness will lead. Payroll deduction is the time release formula for philanthropic action. You become a member of a community team. The CSEC has been created for State Employees and overseen by State Employees.

I’m only one person. What can I do? We, the approximately 70,000 State Employees, can show that we care beyond the work environment. We can demonstrate our level of commitment. For the price of a cup of coffee a week, be a part of a team that contributes to the greater good. Wouldn’t you be willing give up a cup of coffee to help someone else?

I can’t give a lot, would it really help? You show leadership & enthusiasm by a 1- time gift or by bi-weekly payroll deductions. It’s a convenient option to participate year-round. It’s easy & helps with taxes. Pooling our efforts accomplishes positive change and growth. Participation demonstrates commitment to our community beyond our work environment.

Per week helps distribute 100 missing children posters [= cost of the newspaper for one day] Per week provides a scholarship for inner city child to attend a summer camp [= cost of a cup of coffee] $1 $2 How do charities use your money?

Per week provides 150 measles immunizations [= cost of gas to drop the kids at the Mall] Per week provides 346 cancer patients with treatment services & information [=cost of payday lunch with your co-workers] How do charities use your money? $3 $5

Your generous contributions supported such charities as: Alzheimer’s Association Breast Cancer Foundation Children’s Angel Flight Foodshare, Inc. HartBeat Ensemble Juvenile Diabetes Literacy Volunteers Sickle Cell Disease Association Seniors Job Bank Many more listed in the 2007 Directory

Your donations work in the community.

Your contributions help others … adoption, education, elder care, health, and more.

Your donations help those in need.

Your gifts help the environment.

Your generosity helps animals.

Where we’ve been ~ Where we’re going Last year, our grand total was $1,860,050. This year, we’d like to arrive at $1.9 million, and with your help, we can get there.

For the 2006 Campaign, the Retirees from State service generously donated more than $37,145 Congratulations to our State Retirees!

With a convenient, once a year decision, you are able to: Use automatic payroll deduction Demonstrate your concern Set a good example Make a difference Help others One more time, why I should give?
