2 What is EarthShare of Georgia? Vision: EarthShare of Georgia is working for the day when our air, land and water are clean, abundant and healthy. Mission: EarthShare of Georgia connects people to trusted nonprofit organizations dedicated to conserving and protecting our air, land and water.  Founded in 1992 as the Environmental Fund for Georgia by environmental groups to expand choice in workplace- giving.  EarthShare of Georgia connects people to environmental volunteer and learning opportunities, while raising critical funds for environmental causes and increasing environmental awareness statewide.

3 EarthShare of Georgia is a “green” umbrella! EarthShare of Georgia is an affiliate of EarthShare, a national environmental federation, but a separate 501(c) 3 organization. Currently we help support 70 leading non-profit conservation organizations, taking the guess work out of charitable giving to environmental causes.

4 EarthShare Nationwide  Founded by our environmental and conservation charities in 1988 to represent them in workplace charity campaigns  EarthShare is the workplace charity arm for each of its member organizations; EarthShare is an extension of your development staff.  Provides sustainable, unrestricted funding for its members primarily through workplace payroll contributions; to-date, EarthShare has raised more than $ 350,000,000  EarthShare Nationwide, through its affiliates and chapters, connects individuals and companies with over 500 environmental and conservation charities through employee engagement and giving programs at workplaces across the country. Connect ▪ Contribute ▪ Volunteer 4

11 Several years ago, Lord, Aeck & Sargent Architecture decided to invite EarthShare of Georgia to help us offer our growing staff the opportunity to become bigger supporters of environmental causes through an annual campaign and payroll giving. This has been very appealing to our multi-generational workforce and has helped us "walk the walk" as designers committed to creating a more sustainable built environment. Cox Enterprises demonstrates our commitment to the environment through corporate giving, volunteerism and our Cox Conserves initiative. EarthShare of Georgia has been a great partner to Cox, so adding EarthShare to our workplace giving campaign was a simple decision. It allows our employees to do their part to protect Georgia’s water supply, air quality, biodiversity and greenspace for generations to come. 14 From campaign pledges to operating dollars for our member groups! 1. A campaign pledge period typically lasts from 2-4 weeks. Once the campaign ends, the campaign coordinator sends the pledge results to ESGA. 2. This information includes the total amount pledged, and whether they are undesignated or designated pledges. 3. Undesignated pledges are distributed on a 40% (national member groups) and 60% (local member groups) split. Designated pledges may be made to one or more local or national member groups. 4. ESGA then sends donor acknowledgements and, if the donor agrees, the names for designated contributions are sent to the selected member groups. Some campaigns, however, do not permit any sharing of donor names.

15 Allocations  Beginning in the following year, the payroll funds are deducted from all participating employees by the employer for each campaign and ESGA begins receiving checks (typically monthly or quarterly).  The funds that ESGA receives for each quarter are distributed for each allocation to our member groups.  ESGA’s allocation schedule: January-March funds: April allocation April-June funds: July allocation July-September funds: October allocation October-December funds: January allocation  The funds each member group receives are unrestricted and may be used to help support operations throughout the year!

16 Annual member requirements  Complete the points form (updated every year) and due at the end of January each year.  Participate in campaign events as requested and as availability permits.  Submit a completed application for both the State and Combined Federal Campaigns on time to EarthShare of Georgia.  Attend or send a representative to both the annual meeting (May) and member group meeting (August).  Participate in EarthShare of Georgia’s annual Earth Day events.  Run an internal employee-giving campaign.  Strategically post the new EarthShare of Georgia badge on your website as an alternative for raising funds for your organization through workplace-giving.
