Cadets 16 to 18 year olds 1 and 2 year programmes 400 Plus a year recruited and supported Programmes in – Health Care, Finance, Informatics, Business Administration and Dental Nursing 2012/13 Programmes - 2 year programme 92% Successful Progression Outcomes 1 year programme 90% Successful Progression Outcomes

Pre Employment On Working Age Benefits 14 week programme 200 Plus per annum recruited and supported 2012/13 Programmes – Retention rate 89% Employment in the Sector = 45% Employment outside of the sector = 3% Voluntary work whilst seeking employment = 6% Progression onto Further Education/Training /Support = 28% Successful Progression Outcomes: 82%

Bands 1- 4 Manage the bands budget on behalf of HENW Offer a supported brokerage/quality assurance service to all NHS Trusts across the region Support 8 NHS Accredited Centres across the NW to deliver full framework Apprenticeships Support contract compliance for accredited centres to access funding from the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) Work in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service 2012/13 supported the uptake of 2,777 apprenticeships

Why Apprenticeships? Nationally Recognised Qualification with 5 key components – Certificate or Diploma in Vocational Skills. The assessment and verification of demonstrated competence gained in order to undertake specific job-related tasks. Employer Rights and Responsibilities. The rights and responsibilities of workers, the organisation and the impact on the NHS of public law and policies. Functional Skills. A suite of qualifications aimed at developing English, Mathematics or ICT skills. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. Provides knowledge, skills and experience in the self management of relationships with others, team working and problem solving. Technical Certificate. The knowledge element of the framework designed to enhance understanding.

Apprenticeship Promise Consider all AfC Bands 1- 4 vacancies as potential Apprenticeships and advertise them as such Establish an accurate record of minimum level 2 attainment across the organisation, offering those without, the opportunity to undertake an Apprenticeship Actively promote the opportunities for progression to those who successfully complete their Apprenticeship Sign up to the 2013 Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list to showcase the volume and range of Apprenticeship opportunities in the North West NHS Share best practice and lead the evidence base illustrating the health and well-being impact of education and employment, through an annual case study.
