To advance the understanding, practice, and integration of leadership and character development at the Institute and to share insights gleaned from the VMI programs with a broader national audience. The Center for Leadership and Ethics at the Virginia Military Institute

Although a top-flight facility and conferencing capability are necessary to the success of the Center, its distinguishing element must be a Leadership and Ethics Program of highest quality, orchestrated by a highly talented director and staff. The Center for Leadership and Ethics at the Virginia Military Institute

The Center and its Staff contribute to VMI’s leadership and character development missions by:  Coordinating the integration, synchronization, and assessment of the Institute’s comprehensive set of leadership and character development programs  Developing and executing the new programs directly associated with the Center. The Center for Leadership and Ethics at the Virginia Military Institute

“Across the Institute’s major programs and throughout the four-year VMI Experience”  Gaps, Redundancies, Synergies, and Efficiencies  Faculty and Staff Development Seminars and Outreach  Program Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness The Center for Leadership and Ethics at the Virginia Military Institute

 The Leader-in-Residence  Speakers, Symposia, and Conferences  Cadet Character Education Program  “Friday Night at the Movies”: Insights into Leadership and Ethics from Film  Faculty and Staff Development Program  Fellowships in Leadership and Ethics  Military History Staff Rides The Center for Leadership and Ethics at the Virginia Military Institute

 VMI Leadership Conference  Marshall Army ROTC Awards Seminar  Conferences on Public Policy Leadership  Conferences of National Importance  VMI Discipline-Specific Conferences and Symposia  The Class Lecture Series  Leader-in-Residence Lecture The Center for Leadership and Ethics at the Virginia Military Institute

 Institute Director  Deputy Director for Programs/Financial Management  Deputy Director for Facility Management  Administrative, technical, and custodial support personnel for the facility  Conferencing Office The Center for Leadership and Ethics at the Virginia Military Institute

A small, highly efficient, full-time conferencing office will have the mission of planning and executing the administrative and logistical aspects of the symposia and conferences. Conference Office Staff  Conference office coordinator reporting to the deputy director for programs/financial management  Two associate coordinators (finance/operations and logistics/communications)  A part-time administrative assistant The Center for Leadership and Ethics at the Virginia Military Institute

Four endowed visiting chairs with expertise in various elements of leadership and ethics. Positioned in various departments of the Academic Program, these visiting chairs will support the Institute's effort by offering new elective courses in leadership and ethics that will complement the new core course, Leadership in Organizations. In addition, each visiting chair-holder will participate in the VMI Class Lecture Series. Visiting chair-holders will also serve as a valuable resource for the various leadership and ethics conferences and symposia presented by the Center.
