As second in command to the University president and as chief academic officer, the provost has overall leadership and general administrative responsibility for the University’s academic programs, planning processes, and related support services, including faculty, promotion, tenure and sabbatical leaves, academic budgeting, research, curricular planning and assessment. He also chairs the Deans Council.

Dr. McCollum serves as a senior advisor and chief deputy, supporting the president’s role in leading an effective senior management team. He is a member of the President's Cabinet and assists in developing and implementing strategic direction for Millersville. He also represents the University in meetings and events with various constituencies, both on and off campus.
