Energy Champions Training Module 1.5 Energy Champion Program Overview

Energy Champion Role Profile Key Attributes:  Principal responsibility for site infrastructure and/or operational capability  Financial responsibilities related to energy; holds energy related KPIs for site  Position of influence; preferably is on Plant Manager's staff  Facility & operations knowledge (technical degree and/or experience)  Effective team leadership skills  Completes Cummins Energy Champion training, Cummins Six Sigma training, and Cummins Operating System training

Energy Champion Role Profile Key Responsibilities:  Leads energy efficiency at the site  Member of site’s cross-functional “Green Team”  Supports HSE leader with EMS and EnMS implementation and ongoing activities  Sponsors / leads energy improvements (capital projects, energy kaizen work, energy treasure hunts, etc.)  Establishes, leads and mentors site Energy Leader team; delivers training and advises on improvement activities  Participates in CMI Energy Champion Network

Role of the site “Green Team”  Provide system-wide input from all site operations  Identify significant energy users, objectives & targets  Key members: –Energy Champion –Environmental Leader –Facilities Leader –Operations Leader(s) –Manufacturing Engineering –Test Operations / Lab Operations –Quality, Purchasing & Finance –Office / Warehouse

Building a Network of Energy Champions

Key Points: Make GHG & Energy Visible via Employee Communications  Communicate activities in a non-technical manner –Energy Themes, minimize acronyms –Intranet Site, and company-wide interest stories  Report results and successes –Feature stories –Creation of “Chairman’s Awards”  Empower site leaders with Energy knowledge, and engage them for Operational Improvements –Non-capital “low cost/no cost” actions will deliver 10% energy efficiency improvements
