CW. A Religious Creation Story. Date. Starter. 1.How did the world begin? 2.What do religions say about how the world began? All : Retell a religious creation story. Most : Describe a religious creation story referring to several religious beliefs. Some: Describe a religious creation story referring to many beliefs.

If people feel the world is a special place, it is likely to influence how they treat it, whether they look after it not. It was God. Jews, Christians and Muslims say that the universe did not come into existence by accident like some scientists think, but on purpose. They think some power or force is responsible for it. They call this power “God”, and believe that God wanted the universe to exist. The Earth is meant as a place for human beings to live in and to look after. It is a good place, and most of what is wrong with it is the result of human beings treating the world and each other badly. Lego creation story 4mins 60secs

Notice the beliefs expressed. 1. God created everything, everything did not happen by chance. 2. Everything was created as God wanted it to be. 3. God created by command. 4. God created the earth in a short period of time. 5. The earth was a formless void. God did not create from nothing. 6. Everything was good, originally created perfect. 7. The garden of Eden was handed over for humans to look after.

Christians have different understandings of the creation story. Some regard it as a myth/story to explain a mystery and teach beliefs. Others feel there are elements of factual truth e.g. correct order for photosynthesis, God created all things, scientists finding out how. Fundamentalists teach creationism as a factual account.

The idea that life on Earth originated and then evolved from a universal common ancestor approximately 3.7 billion years ago. God allowed natural selection to take place causing the development of different species. Max L2 if no religious beliefs or teachings
