If people feel the world is a special place, it is likely to influence how they treat it, whether they look after it not. It was God. Jews, Christians and Muslims say that the universe did not come into existence by accident like some scientists think, but on purpose. They think some power or force is responsible for it. They call this power “God”, and believe that God wanted the universe to exist. The Earth is meant as a place for human beings to live in and to look after. The garden of Eden was handed over for humans to look after.

Christians have different understandings of the creation story. Some regard it as a myth/story to explain a mystery and teach beliefs.
