The Preamble of Constitution A look into the birth of the rights YOU have as U.S. citizens

Objective By the end of the lesson, SWBAT describe and state why the Framer’s outlined what they did in the Preamble!

The United States of Course! How many states are in the United States?

50!! Where is the capitol of the United States?

The U.S. Even though there are 50 states, the Federal law, law made in Washington D.C. still applies to all of the states.

The Past Under the Articles of Confederation, the capitol and Federal Government did not have that much power. The states and their laws had most of the power, not the Federal government

State Power! Virginia had its own army Each state kind of worked as a mini-country within the United States Examples of state power: Rhode Island printed their own money Delaware had huge import duties Virginia had its own army

Federal Government with No Power! What would the class be like if each table had their own rules? The Federal Government had no power because the States had all of the power!

Oh No! Many people were worried that there were so many different laws. A group of people wanted to create a stronger Federal Government to make things easier to figure out

Constitution was Born This group, called the Framers of the Constitution, created the Constitution.

The Preamble The Framers decided the first lines of the Constitution would explain why the Constitution was created.

The Preamble promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, To make sure that every person’s interests are watched out for, and to make sure that freedom for ourselves and our future family is guaranteed as well.

The Preamble do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. This is why we are creating the Constitution for the United States.
